Scientists and engineers in diverse application domains are increasingly relying on using computational and artificial intelligence (AI) tools to accelerate scientific discovery and engineering design. AI, machine learning, and reasoning algorithms are useful in building models and decision-making towards this goal. We have already seen several success stories of AI in applications such as materials discovery, ecology, wildlife conservation, and molecule design optimization.
